Meta Secures Record $27B Financing with Blue Owl for AI Mega Data Center
Meta Platforms has inked its largest funding deal to date, a $27 billion joint venture with Blue Owl Capital to develop a massive AI data center in Louisiana. The Hyperion project will deliver over 2 gigawatts of computing power for advanced AI model training when completed in Richland Parish.
The financing structure sees Blue Owl contributing $7 billion cash against Meta's $3 billion payout and existing assets. Meta retains 20% equity in the JV while maintaining operational control of the 4 million square foot facility - its largest data center project to date.
The MOVE underscores the insatiable infrastructure demands of generative AI development. Meta's aggressive expansion comes as tech giants race to secure computing capacity for next-generation AI systems.
